Telemedicine Webinar Series Part I: The Evolving Telehealth Framework (On-Demand Webinar)

Date: 03/21/23

Overview: In the first part of this webinar series, we provide a focused overview of the current state of the telehealth regulatory and reimbursement framework. We start with a summary of the various federal and state laws and regulations that need to be considered when evaluating telehealth arrangements. This includes laws and regulations related to reimbursement, enrollment, fraud & abuse, licensure, corporate practice of medicine, and privacy. Subsequently, we discuss the recent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' rulemaking and the two-year extension of certain telehealth flexibilities through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. We conclude by clarifying longstanding laws/regulations that have never changed, versus those that have temporarily changed due to Public Health Emergency (PHE)-specific waivers, versus recent legislative and regulatory changes that have prolonged some of these waivers beyond the PHE.
