HIPAA and the False Claims Act Considerations in Today’s Cybersecurity Landscape (On-Demand Webinar)

Date: 07/20/23

Overview: The False Claims Act (FCA) has been around since 1863 and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was signed into law in 1996. Over the past eight years, there has been an increase in cyber-attacks, HIPAA violations, and various federal government agency initiatives, including the Department of Justice's (DOJ’s) Civil Cyber Fraud Initiative. The purpose of this webinar is to highlight the application of HIPAA’s criminal provisions, provide case law where the DOJ found defendants liable for both HIPAA and FCA violations, and provide mitigation strategies.
