GME Beyond Medicare: How Medicaid Can Support Medical Education and Workforce Initiatives (On-Demand Webinar)
Overview: While Medicare graduate medical education (GME) often gets top billing, the Medicaid program can play a critical role in supporting state and provider-level GME and workforce initiatives. This webinar will describe the various mechanisms for supporting GME through the Medicaid program, including State Plan Amendments, 1115 waivers, managed care directed payments, and administrative claiming. We’ll discuss important considerations in assessing the viability of the various approaches, including payment limits, timing and process issues, and non-federal share financing. We’ll also explore real-world examples of recent successful Medicaid GME initiatives.
