Overview: The regulation of genetic privacy is quickly evolving as the health care industry, researchers, and consumers find new ways to harness the potential of genetic information. In this webinar, we will explore the current legal landscape surrounding genetic privacy in the U.S., including state laws such as the recently enacted California Genetic Information Privacy Act, which regulates direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies. We will also discuss operational challenges and considerations under state, federal, and international legal regimes, including with respect to consent, de-identification, research, and secondary uses of genetic information.
