In the Wake of Dobbs, Part I: Health Benefits (On-Demand Webinar)

Date: 04/12/23

Overview: The issue of health coverage for abortion services, prescription drugs for abortions, and travel to states that permit the provision of such services/drugs has dominated the benefits community since the Dobbs decision was leaked in May and issued in June. Health insurers, health plan administrators, and employers who sponsor health plans will want to attend this webinar. We will discuss the latest plan design strategies, practical steps to take to mitigate risk for civil and criminal penalties under state law (including an ERISA preemption analysis), federal tax and reporting issues associated with providing this coverage, MHPAEA considerations with limiting travel to abortion services, HSA-compatible HDHP issues to consider, and HIPAA privacy and security issues to manage.
