Leah Mayo, Interim Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Healthy Equity, College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina Wilmington, speaks with Sarah Ridout, Healthy Opportunities Pilot Program Director, Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear, and Tina Simpson, Principal Consultant, Atrómitos, about North Carolina’s Healthy Opportunities Medicaid Pilot (NCHOP) and the lessons learned a year into its implementation. NCHOP is the first time CMS has approved the use of federal Medicaid funds to pay for non-medical social support services to qualifying Medicaid beneficiaries.
