Overview: In this webinar, the panelists will give a review of opioid settlements reached between state and local governments and significant pharmaceutical opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers and have a general discussion of the lawsuits that led to them. Keys terms of the settlements will be summarized, and the panelists will discuss the various opportunities the settlements present for behavioral health service providers and the field overall. Key settlements across the nation will be surveyed, and state actions taken to date to plan for spending settlement funds on opioid remediation will be analyzed for their consistency with the terms of the settlements reached. The webinar will feature a panel of experts, including a seasoned litigator with extensive experience negotiating comparable settlements, as well as an administrator involved in planning for and executing the spending of settlement funds at the state/local level.
