Overview: In this webinar, the speakers discuss how eyes are on Medicare Advantage and Medicaid managed care organizations’ prior authorization practices. Among the reasons are reviews by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General that raise concerns about Medicare and Medicaid beneficiary access to care. These reviews have prompted Congressional, agency and industry attention to, and push for, evolution to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the prior authorization practices of Medicare Advantage and Medicaid managed care organizations.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the evolving prior authorization requirements and expectations for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid managed care that Congress, DHHS, CMS and industry are seeking
- Identify the themes and trends underlying these activities to evolve prior authorization, including the use of Artificial Intelligence
- Assess the implications of these changing prior authorization requirements and expectations for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid managed care organizations and their delegated entities
