Overview: This 90-minute webinar discusses recent amendments to the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Patient Records Rule at 42 C.F.R. Part 2 (Part 2) and the implications of the upcoming February 2026 compliance deadline. Speakers examine changes to consent requirements, ambiguities regarding when HIPAA regulated entities may redisclose SUD records, the role of electronic health records in supporting Part 2 compliance, the potential for increased legal risk due to new breach notification requirements, application of HIPAA penalties, and delegation of enforcement to the HHS Office for Civil Rights.
