Overview: Hospitals and health systems are confronting converging trends in 2026: heightened fraud and abuse enforcement, evolving provider compensation and value‑based care models, shifting valuation expectations in key specialties, and new provider‑based rules affecting outpatient strategy.
Leaders from the AHLA's Hospitals and Health Systems Practice Group will examine these developments through a trends discussion grounded in practical experience advising health systems nationwide, and focusing on where we've been and where we may be headed.
Learning Objectives:
- Review recent FCA and Anti‑Kickback cases involving provider compensation, coverage, and service line arrangements, and the compliance gaps driving enforcement.
- Analyze adoption of VBE structures, use of downside risk, evolving productivity and quality metrics, and increased reliance on data analytics.
- Discuss specialty-specific coverage and valuation issues and practical implications of recent provider-based rule developments.
