Overview: This joint AHLA and AAPCP webinar will explore the role of in-house legal and compliance professionals in managing the valuation and approval of provider financial arrangements. Speakers discuss practical approaches to integrating fair market value and commercial reasonableness into an organization’s contracting and compensation processes, including when independent valuation is appropriate, how legal and compliance teams partner with operations and compensation professionals, and how organizations can establish effective review and approval frameworks. The session will also address common challenges, documentation considerations, and practical strategies for managing provider arrangements in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the respective roles of legal, compliance, compensation, and operational stakeholders in the review and approval of provider financial arrangements.
  • Identify circumstances in which fair market value and commercial reasonableness review may require additional analysis or independent valuation.
  • Apply practical strategies for documenting, governing, and managing provider financial arrangements to support consistent decision-making and regulatory compliance.
