Overview: This year, national health expenditures are forecasted to surpass $6.0 trillion, up nearly 1% as a share of the total economy from two years ago and employer health care costs are expected to increase substantially next year. Waste, fraud, and abuse are central to creating market distortions in health care, driving up costs, restricting access, and making it harder for smaller rural and economically challenged systems to compete with less operating leverage to shoulder administrative burden. State and federal regulations add to this imbalance and can have negative impacts on the ability to innovate and compete across different types of service areas. Competition enforcement has traditionally examined commercial data, but little effort has been placed to assess how elimination of market distortions manifested through government programs and elements of fraud can better address rising costs. Until now. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources HHS is developing its Audit Enforcement and Risk Oversight (AERO) program, which is driving HHS to examine how auditing tools, inclusive of AI, can drive elements of fraud and risk from the market, and drive market forces through clarity to better, more competitive outcomes. This webinar is a must for any entity filing an audit with the federal government and for antitrust attorneys to learn new ways to bring efficiencies to health care delivery.
